This independently owned Hospital is looking for a new Senior Clinical Anaesthetist to join their team to primarily work within a state of the art Small Animal Hospital.

The practice is the largest referral centre in the south-west of England and consequently have a busy and varied caseload of around 3,500 small animal anaesthetics a year. The clinical team is friendly, mutually supportive, and recognises the contributions of each discipline to the overall success of patient care. Along with clinical anaesthesia the practice provides an acute and chronic pain service and support the intensive care unit in the management cases which require invasive or non-invasive ventilation. The hospital is equipped to a very high standard, and have dedicated anaesthesia ultrasound and endoscopy units.

Along with the small animal hospital their practice supports the farm animal practice when cases require general anaesthesia, and provide the anaesthesia service to the university’s Translational Bio-Research Centre, primarily with large animal (pig and sheep) experimental models.

The department currently comprises of 5 senior anaesthetists, 3 residents enrolled in an ECVAA training program and 6 anaesthesia nurses. The successful candidate would be expected to contribute to the on-call rota and participate in small group and individual under- and post-graduate student teaching on clinics.

The position would suit an ECVAA or ACVAA diplomate or a candidate who had completed a residency within either college. It would be possible to increase the proportion of off clinics time for applicants who are preparing for examinations.

The Hospital campus is situated 10 miles south of Bristol in a lush valley on the edge of the Mendip hills. Bristol and its environs are arguably the best place to live in the UK, with a vibrant local food scene, a huge range of cultural attractions and amazing countryside with easy access to hills, ancient woodlands, rivers and the beautiful beaches of the South West and Wales.
